Spitzer wins Democratic primary for N.Y. governor

ALBANY, N.Y.--New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer on Tuesday earned the state's Democratic nomination to run for governor in the November elections.

Mr. Spitzer--who over the past two years has led probes into insurance industry business practices, impacting a number of major brokers and insurers in the business--has served in the role of state attorney general since 1999.

He will face Republican candidate John Faso in the general election of Nov. 7.
