Spitzer, SEC query Swiss Re on finite products

ZURICH, Switzerland--Swiss Reinsurance Co. said it has been subpoenaed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who asked the reinsurer to provide documentation relating to "nontraditional insurance products," including finite risk insurance.

In a statement issued Friday, the Zurich-based reinsurer said it also expects to receive similar requests from other governmental or regulatory authorities.

The reinsurance giant said it will cooperate fully with authorities' requests for information and that it has not been named or referred to in any litigation related to the investigations.
