BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

CHICAGO -- More than 200 people traveled to Chicago to attend the Second Annual Corporate Benefits Conference held earlier this month.

The conference is jointly sponsored by the Assn. of Private Pension & Welfare Plans, the Council on Employee Benefits, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Featured speakers included Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman and Rep. Harris W. Fawell, R-Ill., who, on the eve of his retirement, spoke about the importance of Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Two companies received the Creative Excellence in Benefits awards, presented by the IFEBP. CIGNA International Employee Benefits won for its health care program for expatriate employees, and Shell Oil Co. won for its redesigned defined benefit pension plan that offers enrollees a choice between two types of plans.

Receiving honorable mention were PepsiCo Inc. for its integrated health and disability program, and WEA Insurance Corp. for its study on the impact of demand management.

Next year's conference will be held Oct. 14-15 in Minneapolis. For more information, call 414-786-6710, ext. 8257.
