BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The WorkSafe System by Safety Management Corp. and Integrated Corporate Solutions Inc. is being made available through the IBM Software Vendor Marketing Partnership program.

This one-stop shop on the Internet provides tools for small and growing businesses to implement environmental, health and safety programs that meet most government regulatory requirements without a large investment in technology and people, IBM said in a release.

The WorkSafe System is an interactive way to implement environmental, health and safety programs based on Safety Management's WorkSafe and EnviroSafe programs. Businesses need only have PC access to the Internet and a Web browser to use the programs.

The WorkSafe System is hosted on IBM servers in a secure IBM Global Network data center, where information put into the WorkSafe System is maintained. Additionally, The WorkSafe System includes a library of regularly updated Internet links and a hot line for environmental, health and safety application and technical support.

Businesses may subscribe to The WorkSafe System via the Internet at www.worksafesystem.com, or by calling 888-657-2537.

Bill review

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- BerkleyCare, a managed care and medical cost containment company in the workers compensation and insurance services industry, now offers bill review services in most states through its new VERIF-EYE service.

VERIF-EYE combines technology with the clinical expertise of BerkleyCare and its network of specialists in occupational injuries and diseases. The service helps cut down the waste and unnecessary costs of inaccurate workers comp medical bills, BerkleyCare said in a release. It targets inappropriate charges, such as duplicate billing, unbundling of charges to increase the overall cost, inconsistencies in diagnosis and treatment, unrelated charges from injuries or illnesses not covered by workers comp, and inflated fees.

To help control costs, businesses can use VERIF-EYE in combination with other BerkleyCare services, such as case management and utilization management. Billed charges can be compared to state fee schedules, as well as lower negotiated fees with preferred providers. Also, first report of injury, early intervention and bill review can be integrated into a managed care program.

For information, contact Jennifer C. Smith, president of BerkleyCare, 888-561-3766.
