CURIOUS TIME-WARP IN COMMENTARY ON MERGERS
Posted On: Oct. 4, 1998 12:00 AM CSTTo the editor: Your perceptive commentary in the BI issue released seemingly on Aug. 31 gets curiouser and curiouser; as indeed not only are we bewildered by the daily onslaught worldwide of industry mergers, buyouts, buy-ins, spinoffs and other variations of size changes, empty seats, new kings and queens, and beheadings, (obliging us to try to mentally expunge decades of accumulated names/roles/affiliations, while envisioning the possible future effects of the new alignments); but your Commentary also is squeezing us into an Alice time-warp, as the (No. 65) was dated Jan. 6, 1998. Or does this mean you knew about Sedgwick going into Marsh Mac seven months before they knew? If so, perhaps you could operate a unique niche business of identifying, for a fee, the next done deals of any public stock companies, before they know about them? I'll send you my crystal ball; (it's not earning much as a paperweight), and you can help us swim against this new bear market.
