KELLY'S DUTIES EXPANDED

Posted On: Aug. 23, 1998 12:00 AM CST

William J. Kelly, managing director at J.P. Morgan & Co. Inc. in New York, has expanded responsibilities.

Mr. Kelly, who has been with the banking company for 13 years, manages the company's insurance and risk management programs and is responsible for several other departments. He recently also was placed in charge of travel, contracts, purchasing, printing, in-house restaurants, mailing and vendor relationship management.

His areas of responsibility already covered tellers, translation, micrographics, corporate policy, signing authorities and corporate records management.

Mr. Kelly said his duties have increased as "the firm realized that managing corporate insurance is a lot like vendor management" of other corporate service areas.

"A lot of corporate services are now provided externally," he explained, and managing those areas involves many of the same techniques as managing an insurance and risk management department.

Mr. Kelly heads a staff of about 200 employees.
