To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

SYMPOSIUM TO ADDRESS CLASS ACTIONS

CHICAGO-The 12th Harold H. Hines Jr. Memorial Symposium will address "The Use and Abuse of Class-Action Lawsuits."

The symposium, sponsored by the Chicago and Northeastern Illinois Chapters of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. and Business Insurance, will be held May 6 at The Union League Club of Chicago.

The speakers will be Brian O'Hara, president and chief executive officer of EXEL Ltd. in Bermuda; Lowell Sachnoff, a senior partner at Sachnoff & Weaver in Chicago; Donald Sullivan, vp-risk management of Baxter International Inc. in Chicago; and Arthur Susman, a partner at Susman, Buehler & Watkins in Chicago.

Steven Gilford, a partner with Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago, will present an overview of class actions.

Following will be introductory remarks by the panelists covering what risk managers need to know about class actions and how to deal with insurance companies.

Mr. Gilford and Business Insurance Publisher and Editorial Director Kathryn J. McIntyre will pose follow-up questions, and the audience will be invited to ask questions of the panel.

The class-action program begins promptly at 3:30 p.m.
