ATLANTIC MUTUAL NAMES TOP EXEC

Klaus G. Dorfi was named chairman and chief executive officer of the Atlantic Mutual Cos., succeeding Kenneth J. Gorman, who retired from the New York-based insurer March 31. Kermit C. Smith was named president and chief operating officer of Atlantic Mutual. He assumes Mr. Dorfi's previous positions.

E. Wayne Ratz named senior vp and chief information officer for Harleysville Group Inc. and Har-leysville Mutual Insurance Co. in Harleysville, Pa.

Kristian P. Moor, president of American International Group Inc.'s National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., named to the additional post of senior vp-domestic general insurance for AIG.

Matthew Peller named executive vp responsible for all products distributed through the wholesale broker system for Gryphon Insurance Group in Woodland Hills, Calif. Also at Gryphon, Kathryn Suchomel named chief underwriting officer, with responsibilities for all products distributed through the managing general agency system.

Allendale Mutual Insurance Co. named three new senior vps: Roland J. Bonitati, marketing in Johnston, R.I.; Perry R. Brazeau, manager-Canadian Operations in Toronto; and Kerras W. Campbell, operations manager in New York.

Also at Allendale, Norman L. Belgarde named vp in Johnston, R.I., and Benoit Charbonneau named vp-operations manager in Montreal.

At Acordia/Rauh, J. Paul Brophy named president-Acordia Financial Services of Cincinnati Inc. and Jack B. Matthews and Steven R. Schneider named vps-commercial lines.

Paul La Bounty joined the Robert F. Driver Co. Inc. as vp-employee benefits division in San Diego. Previously, Mr. La Bounty was group manager of San Diego's Blue Cross Large Group Sales office.

Edward D. Norris named president and CEO of Signet Star Holdings Inc., the reinsurance subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corp. in Greenwich, Conn. Mr. Norris, formerly president of Monitor Liability Managers Inc., Berkley's professional liability insurance subsidiary, succeeds Clement S. Dwyer Jr., who resigned to pursue other interests.

Douglas J. Powers assumes Mr. Norris' position at Monitor Liability Managers.

Laura A.W. Jensen named vp-Argentina and AnneMarie Ryan named vp at Transatlantic Reinsurance Co. in New York.

Christian Svendsgaard joined Swiss Re America as senior pricing actuary and member of senior management in New York.
