BI DIRECTORY OF CAPTIVE INSURANCE COMPANY MANAGERS: HOW TO USE THIS DIRECTORY

Posted On: Apr. 13, 1997 12:00 AM CST

The annual Business Insurance directory of captive managers lists companies that manage captive insurance companies, either directly or through subcontracts.

The directory is published as an editorial service and there is no charge to be included. However, to be listed companies are required to complete a BI questionnaire.

To locate organizations managing captives in a particular domicile, refer to the index following the directory. The index includes companies that provide direct service and those that subcontract in the specified domiciles.

Listings begin with the company name, address, telephone and fax numbers, followed by year founded, parent company (if any) and a note identifying companies that offer rent-a-captive services.

Next, frequent and occasional services provided are listed. If loss control services are offered, principal location is noted.

Staff information is reported on a full-time equivalent basis and includes the total number of staff members and the number of professional staff members involved in captive management services at year-end 1996.

The clients section includes the number of active and inactive captives managed at year-end 1996 along with the total gross premium volume of captives managed and their capital and surplus in 1996. The minimum size client accepted (by premium volume) is also included.

Compensation details how the company bills for its services; commissions refers to commissions for reinsurance brokered. 1996 gross revenues are included when reported. Percent of 1996 gross revenues generated from fees charged for captive management, commissions charged for insurance and/or reinsurance brokered, and other services the company may provide are given next.

Names and titles of the company's principal officers and a contact for readers seeking additional information complete the listings.

Although every effort is made to report complete and accurate information, Business Insurance is unable to verify all information received.
