BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

WASHINGTON-Mark A. Hofmann has been promoted to Washington Editor in the Washington, D.C., office of Business Insurance.

Mr. Hofmann, 43, joined the staff of BI in Chicago in September 1987 as associate editor. He moved to the magazine's Washington bureau in August 1991.

From 1984 to 1987, Mr. Hofmann was an associate editor at Professional Agent, a monthly magazine published by the National Assn. of Professional Insurance Agents in Alexandria, Va. Prior to that, he was an editorial writer for the Winston-Salem Journal in Winston-Salem, N.C. for 10 years.

Mr. Hofmann received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., in 1974.
