A report by Singapore-based cybersecurity provider Group-IB LLC said that there was a 935% rise in the number of double-extortion ransomware cases, where data stolen from the companies was leaked on a data leak site by the hackers, Threat Post reported. The cases of double-extortion ransomware have surged amid increasing collaboration between ransomware operators and corporate-access brokers, availability of ransomware-as-a-service tools, and poor corporate cybersecurity management.
