75,000 taxi drivers may sue Mercedes-Benz over emissions cheating

Germany-based Mercedes-Benz AG could be sued by some 75,000 taxi drivers in the United Kingdom for over its emissions-cheating scandal, Taxi Point reports. Taxi drivers could bring legal claims of up to £5,000 ($6,048) apiece against the automaker for installing illegal "defeat devices" to pass emissions tests. U.K.-based law firm Harcus Parker Ltd., which is investigating the claims, said that customers overpaid for their vehicles as a result of the alleged defeat device and are entitled to compensation.
