The Association of Kenya Insurers said that legal and regulatory challenges are hampering insurers' efforts to fully implement the government's directive to cover marine cargo locally, Business Daily reported. Kenya's insurance regulator said that most local insurers are not registered as required under the country's marine insurance act. Under the law, shippers must insure marine cargo with registered Kenyan insurers.
