Aon Benfield's Impact Forecasting unit has said that economic losses from flooding in southern India is likely to total about $3 billion, but only 10% of the losses may be insured, Artemis.bm reports.

Persistent flooding in the nation's Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh states has claimed at least 386 lives, the unit said. Impact Forecasting said that an enhanced North-East Monsoon caused weeks of heavy downpours in southern India and Sri Lanka in November and early December.
