Airline faces $88 million in damages from airport fire

Italian air carrier Alitalia S.p.A. has reported damages worth €80 million ($88 million) and counting due to a fire that broke out at Fiumicino Airport, reports eTurboNews.

The air carrier said that the total amount of damages will be calculated once when normal operations resume at the airport. "If Fiumicino will continue to focus on low-cost airlines and mediocre services, Alitalia will be forced to shift its growth elsewhere", said chief executive Silvano Cassano. The fire broke out at the airport on May 7.
