NEW YORK—Daniel S. Glaser has been appointed to the new post of group president and chief operating officer of the Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., MMC said Wednesday.
The appointment of Mr. Glaser, previously chairman and CEO of Marsh Inc., was one of several management changes MMC announced Wednesday.
Mr. Glaser now has operational and strategic oversight of MMC’s risk and insurance and consulting segments, MMC said in a statement. In addition, he has responsibility for the company’s technology, business services, and international and client development functions.
New post
MMC President and CEO Brian Duperreault explained the reason for establishing the new post.
“The first phase of the turnaround we began in 2008 is now complete,” Mr. Duperreault said in the statement. “After a strong 2010, our goal moving forward is to deliver sustainable growth in revenue and profitability across all of our operating companies. The board of directors and I believe that Dan’s appointment will allow us to sharpen our focus as an organization and accelerate our progress toward this goal.”
Peter Zaffino succeeds Mr. Glaser as president and CEO of brokerage unit Marsh Inc. Mr. Zaffino had been president and CEO of MMC’s reinsurance intermediary unit, Guy Carpenter & Co. L.L.C.
In addition, Alexander Moczarski succeeds Mr. Zaffino as president and CEO of Guy Carpenter. Mr. Moczarski previously was president of the international division of Marsh Inc.
