BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Tennessee comp insurer of last resort to get new administrator

The National Council on Compensation Insurance Inc. will serve as the plan administrator for Tennessee’s residual workers compensation market as of July 1, according to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.

NCCI, a Boca Raton, Florida-based workers comp ratemaking agency, will administer the Tennessee Workers Compensation Insurance Plan, which is the workers comp insurer of last resort for Tennessee employers unable to find comp insurance on the voluntary market. The plan will be renamed the Workers Compensation Insurance Plan after NCCI takes over plan administration, the insurance department said Thursday in a statement.

NCCI, which administers workers comp residual market plans in 22 other states, will provide application processing, administration of plan rules and access to a limited amount of comp coverage provided outside of Tennessee, among other services, the state insurance department said.

A series of educational sessions will be held by NCCI in May to discuss the Tennessee residual market administration changes, according to a post on NCCI’s website on Thursday.
