BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Travelers increases U.S. nurse concierge sites to 30

Travelers Cos. Inc. will more than double the number of concierge nurse sites available to its workers compensation insurance clients to 30 locations across the United States, the company said Monday.

With Travelers’ ConciergeCLAIM Nurse program, the Hartford, Conn.-based insurer places registered nurses in clinics to help guide workers compensation claimants through the system, reviewing their diagnoses and treatment plans, and assisting with referrals and other components of their care regimen.

The program, launched as a pilot in 2010, has helped keep workers compensation medical costs down for Travelers customers, Jim Wucherpfennig, vice president of Travelers’ workers compensation claims services, said during an at interview at the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. conference being held April 27-30 in Denver.

During the pilot, ConciergeCLAIM Nurse returned injured employees to work 24% quicker, resulting in a 5% reduction in loss costs for employers.

“It produces better outcomes,” he said, which has resulted in a 10-point reduction in Travelers’ loss ratio for its workers compensation business. “The ConciergeCLAIM Nurse program helps employees return to work sooner and reduces employers’ workers compensation-related costs.”
