Markel recruits Chubb executive

Markel Corp. said Thursday it has hired Kristin Towse, formerly with Chubb Ltd., as executive underwriting officer for its Markel Specialty division, a new position.
Ms. Towse will be responsible for leading the products and regulatory services and risk solutions services teams, Markel said in its statement. She will also be responsible for further building out Markel Specialty multiline capabilities, focusing on industry verticals, the company said.
Ms. Towse, who is Boston-based, had been executive vice president, Northeast region commercial insurance manager at Chubb, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She will report to Markel chief underwriting officer Jane Peterson.
