BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Washington state farms cited for violating COVID-19 safety rules

Inspectors with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries have conducted 384 agricultural workplace safety and health inspections since March and found violations of pandemic policies at nearly a third of the sites, the agency said in a statement released Thursday.

The agency said 130 of the farms were found in violation of various health and safety rules created to keep agricultural workers safe; more than 20 were cited for “serious” violations with potential fines of up to $13,500, according to the statement.

Among the serious violations, 10 involved inadequate, temporary worker housing, while others included inadequate social distancing policies at work sites.

Department inspectors have conducted nearly 3,600 inspections and approximately 1,600 consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic, and agribusiness inspections are ongoing, according to the statement.
