Julie Mix McPeak, former Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Commissioner and immediate past president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, is joining Greenberg Traurig PA, effective Saturday.
She will join the law firm’s insurance regulatory and transactions practice and help launch its Nashville, Tennessee, office, according to a statement released Friday by the firm.
Ms. McPeak, who was first appointed commissioner by then-Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam in 2011 and reappointed by current Gov. Bill Lee in January 2019 before stepping down last month, was also a former executive director of the Kentucky Office of Insurance.
Before leading the Tennessee department, Ms. McPeak worked in private practice as counsel to the insurance practice group of law firm Burr & Forman LLP.
Tennessee Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak will become president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Jan. 1.
