States elect insurance commissioners

Republicans edged out Democrats in three of the five state insurance commissioner races on Tuesday, but votes were still being counted in Montana.
• Delaware: Democrat Trinidad Navarro defeated Republican Jeff Cragg. Mr. Navarro had 233,114 votes, while Mr. Cragg received 159,288. Mr. Navarro had defeated the incumbent commissioner, Karen Weldin Stewart, in the September Democratic primary.
• Montana: As of Wednesday morning, published reports said that Republican Matthew Rosendale was leading Democratic challenger Jesse Laslovich in the race for state auditor, which regulates insurance and securities industries. The incumbent, Democrat Monica Lindeen, decided not to seek re-election in order to run for secretary of state. Ms. Lindeen lost to Republican Corey Stapleton.
• North Carolina: Published reports said Republican Mike Causey defeated Democratic incumbent Wayne Goodwin, 2,248,352 votes to 2,209,668. Mr. Causey has declared victory, but the incumbent Wayne Goodwin has not conceded the race, according to media reports.
• North Dakota: Republican Jon Godfread, vice president of governmental affairs at the Greater North Dakota Chamber, won with 204,377 votes. Democrat Ruth Buffalo earned 85,192 votes, while Libertarian Nick Bata pulled in 27,302 votes. Republican incumbent Adam Hamm chose not to seek another term.
• Washington: Democratic incumbent insurance commissioner Mike Kreidler defeated Republican challenger, Richard Schrock, 1,105,461 votes to 736,685.
