Schinnerer names chief underwriting officer

Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. Inc. has named Chevy Chase, Maryland-based Mark A. Smith chief underwriting officer.
Mr. Smith will be responsible for leading and developing underwriting strategy across the firm. He is also responsible for all aspects of Schinnerer's underwriting operations, Schinnerer said in a statement.
Previously, Mr. Smith was an as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co. Ltd. He succeeds John Wallace as chief underwriting officer, according to a Schinnerer spokeswoman.

Inc. said in the statement. “With his extensive track record of achieving profitable growth and broad insurance knowledge in underwriting, management and finance, I am confident he will be instrumental in continuing our momentum while preserving our proud tradition of innovation and underwriting excellence.”
