BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Willis sues JLT over poaching allegations

Willis Ltd. announced Tuesday that it has sued Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group P.L.C., JLT Specialty Ltd. and former Willis employee David Gordon for damages over JLT's poaching of Willis employees.

The London-based unit of Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. alleges conspiracy, breach of duty and wrongful interference by JLT in the proposed sale of Willis' Fine Art, Jewelery & Specie division to Miller Insurance Services L.L.P., Willis said in a statement Tuesday,

JLT Specialty Ltd. said at the beginning of April that it hired away members of the specie, fine art and jewelry team from Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. including Barry Vickery and Mr. Gordon.

Willis previously sought an English High Court injunction to prevent JLT and Mr. Gordon from recruiting further Willis staff from its fine art, jewelry and specie team, but the judge found that damage had already been caused and damages could be pursued at trial, according to the Willis statement.

“Willis will always pursue legal redress against individuals and companies where we believe unlawful action has compromised the interests of our clients, our employees, the markets we work with and our shareholders,” Willis said in its statement.

JLT has been on a strong recruitment drive over the past year, bringing in executives from its major rivals in a variety of locations.

A JLT spokesman was not immediately available for comment on the Willis action.
