BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Geneva Association and the International Insurance Society Inc. on Tuesday named Howard Kunreuther and Shawn Cole as the winners of their joint Shin Research Excellence Awards.

Mr. Kunreuther, a professor of operations and information management, as well as decision sciences and business economics, at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, was selected for his research on insuring against extreme events with public-private partnerships.

Mr. Cole, a professor of business administration at the Harvard Business School, won for his field research on overcoming barriers to microinsurance adoption.

They will present their research at the New York-based IIS’ 51st annual seminar June 14-17, and the research will be published in The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, according to a statement.

“We are pleased to recognize the outstanding work of Professor Kunreuther and Professor Cole,” Anna Maria D’Hulster, secretary general of The Geneva Association, said in the statement. “We look forward to the contributions they will make to the industry and wider world’s understanding of the role of public-private partnerships in mitigating and managing risks.”

The joint research program aims to promote practical, applied research in the insurance and risk management fields, according to the statement.
