BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Ann Haugh, formerly chief of staff at Zurich Insurance, has been appointed to the newly created position of global chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer of Hamilton, Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd.'s Aspen Insurance division, Aspen announced Friday.

Ms. Haugh, who was recognized as a “Woman to Watch” by Business Insurance in 2012, left her position with Zurich in August. She will assume her new position on Nov. 11 and will be based in London.

“Appointing a Global CUO and COO provides a single focal point in terms of underwriting oversight and the day-to-day management of operational issues across the business,” said Aspen Insurance Chairman Rupert Villers in a statement. “This new role adds to the strength of our insurance management team and will bring an even sharper focus to our global underwriting and operational strategies.”

In addition, Aspen Insurance is bringing together its property and casualty businesses by creating integrated property and casualty sub-segments in its international and U.S. operations, the company announced Friday. Bob Patten, head of global excess casualty, and Bob Rheel, executive vice president-customer, distribution and marketing for U.S. insurance, have been appointed co-heads of Aspen Insurance’s global property/casualty business. Mr. Patten will be head of international property/casualty and Mr. Rheel will be head of U.S. property/casualty and programs, in addition to his existing U.S. customer, distribution and marketing responsibilities.

Aspen said Mr. Rheel and Jonny Atkinson, manager-distribution and business development for international insurance, will continue to coordinate broker communications for their respective areas with Mr. Atkinson having overarching responsibility for global brokers.
