BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

E.U. reports of significant cyber security breaches expected to spike: Agency

There were 51 significant cyber security incidents in 2011 reported by 11 countries that are members of the European Union, but that total is likely to increase tenfold next year because of improved reporting, said the European Network and Information Security Agency in a report issued Wednesday.

Under the E.U.’s telecom reform directive, E.U. member states are now required to make summary reports on major outages once a year to ENISA and the European Commission, the E.U.’s executive body.

The first summary incident reports for 2011 were sent to ENISA in May of this year, said the security agency in a statement.

The total reported in 2012 “will increase by a factor of 10 because most countries now have mature implementation of the incident reporting process,” according to the report.

The report said 47% of the incidents were caused by hardware and software failure, while the root cause of another 33% was third-party failure.
