The company’s anti-party system, which tracks risks in areas known for shindigs, has expanded from the Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends to now include Halloween, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The company said it uses “heightened technology” to crack down on festivities, a move the Chronicle reported comes “after years” of Houston residents in some party-prone regions. “Rentals have been a magnet for house parties, drag racing, and dangerous behavior,” especially during Halloween, the Chronicle wrote.
Airbnb said last year’s crackdown resulted in about 38,000 people in the U.S. getting deterred from booking entire home listings for Halloween. That was a decrease from 2023, Airbnb said.
