NAME: Kelly Killimett

NEW JOB TITLE: Atlanta-based vice president and head of environmental at Colony Specialty, a member of Argo Group International Holdings Ltd.

PREVIOUS POSITION: Alpharetta, Georgia-based vice president of environmental underwriting at Colony Specialty, a member of Argo Group International Holdings Ltd.

INDUSTRY OUTLOOK: What we are doing at Colony is really focusing on innovation and digital platforms, constantly working on new digital programs that can get us ahead of the competition.

GOALS FOR NEW POSITION: The first thing I’m doing is trying to put the right people in the right positions. I got to hire a few people and make sure that everyone is where they need to be so that we can have continued profitable growth for our shareholders.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY: There are so many moving different parts. When I was in college, I knew that I would go into the industry, but I didn’t realize that there were so many different components to the insurance industry, and I’m still surprised every day by different things.

ADVICE: You need to ask questions and be engaged and curious. In the industry, the sky is the limit, and your career is what you make of it.

OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, A DREAM JOB: Meteorologist

LOOKING FORWARD TO: The thing I’m excited most about is watching my team develop and grow as I move into a new role. It’s going to provide more opportunity from an underwriting and a leadership perspective. I have always said whenever there is change, there is opportunity.

FAVORITE MEAL: Mexican food

HOBBIES: Spending time with my family and, when I’m not doing that, playing tennis.
