Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd. on Tuesday named former Zurich North America executive Ashly Turner to lead U.S. energy insurance and Steve Blackwell, from Berkley Life Sciences, to lead U.S. life sciences insurance at Hamilton Select Insurance Inc., formed earlier this year.
Both are based in Hamilton’s new Richmond, Virginia, office and report to Clay Rhoades, CEO of Hamilton Select.
Ms. Turner most recently held a senior underwriting role for energy casualty risks for Zurich North America. Mr. Blackwell was most recently a senior underwriter with Berkley Life Sciences.
Hamilton Select’s Energy division focuses on small-to-midsize, hard-to-place risks in the energy-related contracting, exploration and production, renewables (including solar and wind), and petrochemical manufacturing and distribution sectors, a statement said.
Coverages available include general liability, including pollution and professional options, with up to $5 million in excess limits for U.S.-based risks with up to $25 million in revenues. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, the statement said.
Hamilton Select’s Life Sciences division is focused on hard-to-place risks engaged in research and/or commerce in the medical device, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetic, contract research, and health care IT industry. Coverage may include products liability, with errors and omissions and other supplemental coverage options on a primary or excess basis, the statement said.
