BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

A student team from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, topped 18 other university teams to win the 2022 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge.

The winning team was announced Friday by the New York-based Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. following presentations at its Riskworld conference in San Francisco earlier this week.

The student teams competed by offering solutions to a risk management case study provided by the executive risk management team at Starbucks Corp.

Members of the winning team included students Madison Browne, Omar Gonzalez, Benjamin Kolodny and Addisyn Sharkey, and Lorilee Medders, academic advisor and distinguished professor of insurance at Appalachian State University.

St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, placed second, and Peking University in China placed third. The winning team received $4,000, and the second- and third-place finishers received $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.
