Everest Re hires Munich Re exec to head North America reinsurance

Everest Re Group Ltd. has hired Munich Re Specialty Insurance excess and surplus lines president Jill Beggs as senior vice president and head of North America reinsurance, effective Nov. 15.

In her new role, Ms. Beggs will oversee Everest’s reinsurance business in the United States, Canada and Bermuda, and will report to Jim Williamson, Everest Group chief operating officer and head of reinsurance.

Ms. Beggs, based in Warren, New Jersey, rejoins Everest after 20 years at Munich Re, where she held various roles leading U.S. treaty and facultative programs across multiple lines of business, the Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer said in a statement.

Prior to that, Ms. Beggs spent the first 10 years of her career at Everest in treaty property underwriting in the U.S. and Latin America.

Everest has also named Connie Germano as senior vice president, treaty casualty & surety in its reinsurance division, reporting to Ms. Beggs.

Ms. Germano, based in New York, succeeds Dennis Alba, who is retiring in 2022 after 40 years in the industry.

Most recently, Ms. Germano was president of specialty casualty at Everest Insurance Co. Prior to that, she held senior casualty underwriting roles at Ace Ltd. in the U.S. and Switzerland.
