FirstEnergy Corp. has named former New York Power Authority risk manager Soubhagya Parija as vice president and chief risk officer, effective August 16.
Mr. Parija will develop a risk program, establishing standards and procedures to identify, mitigate and prevent risks across the company, the Akron, Ohio-based electric utility said in a statement Friday.
He will report to Jon Taylor, senior vice president and chief financial officer and will be based in Akron, FirstEnergy said.
Mr. Parija was previously senior vice president and chief risk officer at the New York Power Authority and is a former board member of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.
FirstEnergy on Thursday agreed to pay $230 million to settle U.S. government bribery charges.
