RIMS names Ellen Dunkin 2021 president

Ellen R. Dunkin, senior vice president, general counsel and chief risk officer for Amalgamated Life Insurance Co. in White Plains, New York, assumed the presidency of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc., effective Jan 1.
Ms. Dunkin, a former staff member of the New York-based organization, has been a member of RIMS for nearly 15 years and joined the RIMS global board of directors in 2017, according to a RIMS statement issued Monday.
She was employed as the organization’s general counsel and director of government affairs from 1998 to 2007 and served as president of the RIMS New York chapter from 2015 to 2016.
Ms. Dunkin succeeds Laura Langone, head of insurance operations at San Francisco-based Airbnb Inc.
Patrick Sterling, senior director for legendary people and risk management at Texas Roadhouse in Louisville, Kentucky, was named vice president of RIMS.
Jennifer Santiago, assistant vice president and chief risk officer at Penn State University, was named treasurer and David E. Arick, assistant treasurer, global risk management at International Paper Co., was named secretary.
New RIMS board members in 2021 are Kevin Bates, group head of risk and insurance at Lendlease Corp.; Christy Kaufman, head of governance, risk and compliance at American Family Ventures; and Penni Nelson, assistant vice president, risk management at Hillwood Co. LLC, a Perot company.
