Axa XL revamps underwriting, broker relations management teams

Axa XL, a unit of Axa SA, on Thursday announced a slew of appointments across its Americas region leadership.

David Grigg was promoted to chief underwriting officer, professional and cyber, where he will manage the insurer’s miscellaneous professional and errors and omissions business, including the design professional and cyber insurance businesses, according to an Axa XL statement. Previously, Mr. Grigg was Axa XL’s construction professional profit center head, according to a spokeswoman for the insurer.

Alex Blanco was named to the newly created role of chief underwriting officer, specialty, where he will manage Axa XL’s crisis management, art, accident and health, political risk, trade credit and bond businesses. Previously, he was chief underwriting officer, professional and cyber, the role assumed by Mr. Grigg.

Mary Ann Susavidge was promoted to chief underwriting officer, environmental, the position formerly held by Matt O’Malley, who is now East zone leader for the Americas. She was previously executive underwriter for environmental.

The three underwriting executives will report to Americas Chief Underwriting Officer Donna Nadeau, the statement said.

Elsewhere, Kevin Bull was promoted to the new role of head of global broker coordination. Previously, he was client distribution leader for the Northeast.

James Martin will relocate to the United States from London to take the newly created role of head of client relationship management and business development. Previously, he was global client management leader.

June Dwyer was named head of broker management, Marsh for the insurer. She was previously regional distribution leader for the Northeast.

Jeanne Marie Vahdat was named head of broker management, Aon for the insurer. Previously, she was broker relationship leader, the spokeswoman said.

Wayne Speeg was named head of broker management, retail brokers. He was previously regional distribution leader for South Central U.S.

The five broker management heads will report to Bob Peretti, chief distribution officer, the statement said.

Additionally, Anthony Gentile was promoted to executive underwriter for Axa XL’s environmental insurance business in the Americas to fill Ms. Susavidge’s previous role. Previously, he was product line leader, environmental.

Lawrence Lejfer was promoted to construction professional profit center head, filling Mr. Grigg’s former role, and will report to Construction Chief Underwriting Officer Gary Kaplan. Mr. Leifer was previously head of construction professionals, the spokeswoman said.

Under the new leadership, most product line and distribution leaders will remain in their longtime roles, Americas CEO Joe Tocco said in the statement.
