BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Alabama Captive Insurance Association on Monday said its annual conference will take place in person from Sept. 16-18 in Birmingham, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

All attendees will be provided with masks with filters each day of the conference and all meeting spaces will be set up with social distancing guidelines, the ACIA said in a statement.

Hand sanitizer will also be provided throughout the venue, and hotel staff will help to distribute all food and beverages, including buffets, contact-free, the association said.

A “no-touch” conference greeting will also be implemented, it said.

The Association is “collaborating” with the event venue to “successfully ensure a safe environment during the 2020 conference in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” Norman Chandler, president of ACIA, said in the statement.

The annual conference drew about 65 to 70 attendees last year, but expects that number to double this year, as it expands registration to include risk management insurance students and public officials, and to offer continuing education sessions, a spokeswoman said in an email.

The conference will be held at the Westin Birmingham Hotel & Resort downtown.
