Lockdown caused losses, not COVID-19: Insurers

South African insurers have denied business interruption claims related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and said that government lock-down orderw were the cause of the loss and not the pandemic, Daily Maverick reports. These insurers, Guardrisk Insurance Co. Ltd., Old Mutual Ltd., Hollard Insurance Co. Ltd. and Santam Ltd., said that COVID-19 qualifies as a declared notifiable disease.
