Munich Re cuts cat exposure, diversifies and writes more business

Munich Reinsurance Co.'s gross written premiums grew more than 6% year over year to €10 billion ($11.3 billion) at the January renewals despite flat reinsurance rates, Artemis.bm reports. The reinsurer recorded more than €1 billion in natural disaster-related losses and nearly €900 million in man-made losses in 2018. Munich Re wrote diversified business and reduced its natural catastrophe portfolio at the renewals.
