(Reuters) — Heathrow in London resumed flights, a spokeswoman for Europe's biggest airport said, after departures were disrupted for an hour on Tuesday following reports of a drone sighting.
Flights had been suspended at 17:05 GMT (12:05 p.m. EST), police said.
Last month, London's second-busiest airport, Gatwick, was severely disrupted when drones were sighted over three days, forcing the cancellation of about 1,000 flights.
Japanese nonlife insurers are increasingly using drones to assess damage following an accident or natural disaster to help provide quick payouts, The Mainichi reported. Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. has also partnered with local governments for disaster prevention and response. Tokio Marine and Nichido Fire Insurance Co. has teamed up with a U.S.-based tech startup to build an artificial intelligence system paired with drones to calculate damage and estimate repair costs.
