Paris protests to cost SMEs, retailers billions of euros

Francois Asselin, head of France's confederation of small and medium-sized enterprises, said that recent fuel-tax related protests in Paris are likely to cost its members €10 billion ($11.4 billion), BBC reported citing sources. France's retail federation said that the protests have cost retailers €1 billion since the demonstrations began on Nov. 17. Bruno Le Maire, the country's finance minister, said that local restaurants' business has declined up to 50% due to the protests. Authorities said that protest-related riots have caused millions of euros worth of damage.
