Arch names US property executive

Arch Insurance Group Ltd. has named Valerie Turpin executive vice president and head of U.S. property, the reinsurer said in a statement Tuesday.
Ms. Turpin will head the company’s excess and surplus property and U.S. retail property divisions, the statement said. Based in New York, she reports to Michael Price, executive vice president and chief underwriting officer of Arch Insurance Group Inc.
Ms. Turpin joins Arch Insurance from American International Group Inc., where she most recently served as senior vice president, Midwest property and special risks.
She succeeds Michael Kmetz, who has taken an internal property governance role within Arch’s internal audit division, a spokesman said in an email.
“Valerie is a recognized leader in the industry and has a proven track record of building out a property team and leading it into new segments,” Mr. Price said in the statement. “We’re impressed with her strategic thinking and leadership style and know she will bring a new perspective to both her team and the leadership group at Arch Insurance.”
