BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Munich Re snags underwriting exec from XL, names another

Munich Reinsurance Co. said Monday it has recruited one executive from XL Catlin and named another to further develop its North America underwriting platform.

Ben Tucker has been named senior vice president, chief underwriting officer of specialty insurance, including cyber, terrorism and political violence and financial lines. Mr. Tucker was previously head of XL Catlin’s U.S. terrorism and political violence division.

Steven P. Weiss has been named senior vice president, chief underwriting officer of ocean and inland marine insurance. Mr. Weiss had been senior vice president at Aspen Insurance Group.

Both positions are new and are based in Schaumburg, Illinois. They will report to John Hennessey, newly appointed president and CEO of Roanoke Group Inc., which is charged with leading Munich Re Specialty Group’s underwriting platform in the Americas, the statement said.

Roanoke Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Re Specialty and the parent and holding company of Schaumburg-based Roanoke Insurance Group Inc.
