Marsh appoints global data executive

Marsh L.L.C. has named Andrew Hickman as global head of data science, a newly created role in its digital, data and analytics practice, the broker said in a statement Wednesday.
Mr. Hickman will build Marsh’s risk modeling and actuarial capabilities as well as new external data and analytics partnerships in collaboration with Marsh Digital Labs “to use the latest data science and machine learning techniques,” the statement said.
He is based in New York and reports to Sastry Durvasula, chief digital officer and chief data and analytics officer, the statement said.
Mr. Hickman joins Marsh from Costa Mesa, California-based Experian DataLabs, where he most recently served as vice president of applied research, the statement said.
“With Andy’s expertise and experience, we will build industry-leading data science and risk-modeling capabilities, leveraging the latest advancements in technology,” Mr. Durvasula said in the statement.
