Swiss Re Ltd. executive Jean-Jacques Henchoz will succeed Ulrich Wallin as CEO of Hannover Re S.E. next May, Hannover Re announced Wednesday.
Mr. Henchoz, who has been in charge of Swiss Re’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region since 2011, will become a member of Hannover Re’s executive board on April 1, 2019, and will succeed Mr. Wallin on May 8, when Mr. Wallin retires, the Hanover, Germany-based reinsurer said in a statement.
Mr. Henchoz will be based in Hanover.
“We are profoundly grateful to Ulrich Wallin for his tremendous entrepreneurial achievements,” said Herbert K. Haas, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Hannover, in the statement. “In Jean-Jacques Henchoz we have secured the services of a very seasoned reinsurance manager who will continue to drive the company’s successful development.”
Swiss Re announced Wednesday that Russell Higginbotham will replace Mr. Henchoz as CEO reinsurance EMEA and regional president EMEA. Previously, he led Swiss Re's global life & health products division.
Talanx A.G., parent of Hannover Re and one of Germany’s largest insurance groups, is consolidating specialty operations into a new company, HDI Global Specialty S.E., beginning Jan. 1, 2019, Talanx, Hannover Re and HDI Global said in a joint statement Friday.
