The probability of a major earthquake occurring within the next 30 years has increased significantly in eastern Hokkaido in northern Japan according to a new seismic hazard map, Inquirer.net reported. The map created by the Japanese government's Earthquake Research Committee showed that the city of Chiba near Tokyo faced the most quake-risk followed by Yokohama and Mito. The committee said that Osaka Prefecture is likely to continue to face a high probability of quake-risk.
