Everest launches transportation and logistics group

Everest Re Group Ltd. on Monday said it was launching a transportation and logistics business segment within Everest Insurance.
The segment, which will be led by Jeff Engelbrecht, will have multiple lines of coverage, including workers compensation, employers’ liability and up to $5 million in capacity for automobile liability and general liability, Everest Re Group said in a statement.
The risk appetite will include all sectors of the transportation industry, with a focus on logistics, waste haulers, airlines, fixed‐based operations and various for‐hire transportation services.
An Everest Re spokesman said the company had written some transportation in its excess and surplus casualty team, but the new segment is a stand-alone unit with more significant appetite, capabilities and capacity.
