Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. said Monday it is establishing Argo Construction as a stand-alone underwriting business.
Jim Cornwell, senior vice president, will lead the new operation, Argo said in a statement. Mr. Cornwell, who is based in New York, was previously senior vice president at Colony Specialty, a member of Argo Group, a company spokeswoman said. He has been with Argo Group since 2010.
Argo Construction will provide contractors with project-specific and ongoing coverage, including general liability and excess casualty. The group will provide excess and liability coverage for owner’s interest in construction projects, Argo said.
The group will also offer affiliated coverage, including professional liability, cyber, environmental, contractors’ equipment and builders’ risk. Argo Construction will expand nationwide with a focus on companies with more than $25 million in revenue.
“This change is the most recent example of a new and successful specialty underwriting practice launched from within our (excess & surplus) organization,” Kevin Rehnberg, president of Argo Group’s U.S. Operations, said in a statement.
Ron Vindivich, president of Argo Group U.S. excess & surplus lines, will serve as the interim head of the excess & surplus casualty business while a search is underway for a new leader.
Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. has finalized its $24.8 million acquisition of Rome-based Italian specialty insurer Ariscom Compagnia di Assicurazioni S.p.A, Argo said in a statement Tuesday.
