Monica Ningen has been appointed president and CEO of Swiss Re Canada & English Caribbean, effective July 1, Swiss Re Ltd. said Friday.
She succeeds Veronica Scotti, who has been named chairperson for global partnerships, Swiss Re said in a statement.
Ms. Ningen joined Swiss Re in 2006 when Swiss Re acquired GE Insurance Solutions. She was most recently head of property underwriting for the U.S. and Canada. Ms. Ningen, who will be based in Toronto, was named one of Business Insurance’s 2015 Women to Watch.
Ms. Scotti joined Swiss Re in 1999 as part of the Fox Pitt Kelton acquisition. She will relocate to Zurich with her family in early August. She succeeds Martyn Parker, who will retire at the end of June. Ms. Scotti was named one of BI's Women to Watch in 2017.
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Ltd. has appointed Jake Algar as head of U.K. and Ireland, effective May 1, the insurance arm of the Swiss reinsurer said in a statement Tuesday.
