Aon names Marcell reinsurance CEO

Aon P.L.C. has named Andrew Marcell CEO of reinsurance solutions, effective immediately.
Mr. Marcell will be responsible for managing Aon’s existing operations and growth strategy for its reinsurance business as it begins its brand transition from Aon Benfield, the brokerage said Thursday in a statement.
He is replacing Eric Andersen, who was named co-president of Aon P.L.C. two weeks ago, a spokesman said in an email.
The company announced earlier this month that it would retire the Aon Benfield and Aon Risk Solutions brands.
Mr. Marcell, who had been president of Aon Benfield since 2017, will be based in New York and continue to report to Mr. Andersen.
“We are pleased that Andy agreed to take on this new position, and we are excited to have him leading the business,” Mr. Anderson said in the statement. “He will provide strong leadership and brings an international perspective to the role as we continue to grow.”
