Chubb, med mal insurer partner on dental malpractice coverage

Chubb Ltd. and The Doctors Co. are offering dental malpractice insurance to dental professionals through Chubb’s small commercial marketplace platform.
The coverage is designed for general dentists, endodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists and other dental specialists, the companies said Tuesday in a statement. Napa, California-based Doctors is a physician-owned medical malpractice insurer.
The policy provides dental malpractice coverage that also insures against cyber attacks and data breaches, violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and dental board and Medicare/Medicaid reviews, according to the statement. It covers hygienists and assistants at no additional charge.
A Doctors spokeswoman said the coverage, which is admitted, is available on both a claims-made and occurrence basis, and limits vary depending on the state. Solo and group policies are being offered, and deductible options are available.
